About

History

The Halifax, Huddersfield & District Golf Alliance was founded in 1952 to enable the professionals within the Halifax and Huddersfield District Union to take part in competitions through the winter alongside amateur golfers.

Each event has two sections, a Pro-Am and an Am-Am playing better ball stableford.

The Page trophy is played for at the end of every season in a 36-hole individual stroke play competition alongside the 18-hole individual stroke play competition for the Roger Heap trophy.

Events are open to Professionals, Assistant Professionals (holding a PGA licence and working in a shop per PGA regulations) and amateurs with an active handicap at a member club or by individual membership.

Entry to an event is by way of the entry sheet on display at member clubs or by direct application to the secretary.

UNder new management

With the possibility of having to wind up the alliance due to a lack of willing volunteers to take on the organisation and running of the events, the Halifax, Huddersfield & District Union of Golf Clubs for whose membership the Alliance was created stepped in and offered to start running thing sin August 2022, with the first event being at Bradley Park GC on 27th September.
